4 years ago, I had a team of 5 amazing people. We had super boss communication, solid accountability, no victim mentality and things generally were humming right along.
Today, my team is at 17, plus 9 summer interns (wowwww).. And lately I've been hammered with the realization that the systems and processes we had in place in 2012 no longer work.
I always assumed I was treading along the front lines of creative teamleadership. Incorrect.
But it's not because I'm a bad leader necessarily, life just gets fricking insane. And it's crazy tough take care of a growing family at home, as well as 16 others families to look out for.
So I'm on this journey to shore up Rhino's processes, structures, communication lines and expectations. It won't be easy, because I'm naturally resistant to too much process. Probably as a result of never really seeing it work well in a company I worked for (with one exception). But I'm going in with an open mind, and a big dose of humility.
I hope to keep my journey transparent and available via my blog.
