How to build quality relationships
Know Who You Are - What do you believe in, what values do you hold to be true, what are you good at, what are you bad at, what makes you happy, what won't you abide, etc.
Show Up - Deciding to show up is critical. This goes for the first time and the times when you don't want to, when conflict makes it tough.
Consistently - You have to show up over and over and over... Over an extended period of time.
Be Patient - Quality relationships take time to build, and people all have their own comfort level of how quickly they open up.
Add Value to Others - Some people are always taking. Be a giver. Know who you are and the ways that you add life to any situation and then do that liberally.
Do the Thing You Said You Would - When you follow through on what you say you're going to do, for an extended period of time.. people notice, and they trust you when you say you're going to do something. It's the nature of trust.
Don't Walk Away - When things aren't perfect or the moment things get awkward, don't back out. If you aren't in it for the bad, then you don't deserve the good.
Love People - Be honest, be respectful, be real, say the hard thing, let them know you love them.
Do it over and over again.
