Can anyone share your story?
I believe that the most powerful stories are simple and easy to retell. They are easier to remember, more memorable and therefore more shareable… and that’s what we all want, right?
We all know that behind the scenes, in our day-to-day operations, things get deep, things get complicated, things get convoluted. We understand our business on a very intimate level. Problem is, most people on the outside have no idea about any of this. So it’s critical that we communicate the story in a very simple way, and that’s what is shared first and most often.
The company with crystal clear narrative about who they are, who they serve, what they believe, and why they matter is the company that will win.
I love asking other people their impression of my company and if they can tell me our story, just to get a gauge of what others understand. We definitely have room to improve in this area, but asking this question often helps me understand my story better and how it connects with people outside of Rhino Media.
(Fun side note for potential interns or hires at Rhino, this is a critical question for me, if you can tell us who we are, then I feel like you understand our culture, and then I can ‘see’ you working here).
So ask yourself this question: how would other people communicate my story to their friends?
Focusing on this question will help you create a more clear brand story.
